Blackwing Lair Attunement is forgiving in the sense that you don’t need to complete the attunement in order to enter this raid. Why is it important, then? Because it gives you such a convenient shortcut to access the entrance much quicker save a lot of time in the long run.

Before you even step into BWL though, you’ll need decent gear. Mostly blue gear or pieces from Molten Core and a significant amount of fire resistance. Without at least 100 fire res, you have very little chance of staying alive. Raid comp is also an important factor. With 40 spots to fill, five of each class is usually safe to ensure all buffs, debuffs, and mechanics are satisfied.

There are eight total encounters within Blackwing Lair, but three of them (Firemaw, Ebonroc, and Flamegor) are fairly trivial compared to the other five. Even better, the first boss, Razorgore, is an intense test for any raid group’s ability to perform mechanics correctly.
